ECG

Electrocardiography (ECG) is the assessment of the electrical activity of the heart muscle. Heart muscle contraction is co-ordinated by the electrical current which passes between the cells.

Abnormalities of the electrical system can be a result of abnormal heart muscle or part of a structural defect. Primary electrical problems can cause palpitations (awareness of the heart beat) or syncope (fainting or loss of consciousness).
